Hi there, my name is Sam Barber and I am a rookie with the Minnesota Vixen! I was born and raised in Wausau, WI and went to college at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. I graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Health Promotion and Wellness in 2014. During my college years, I played basketball for UWSP and in 2013 I was named National Player of the Year. That was a huge turning point in my life because it then took me to St. Louis, MO where I continued my basketball career as a semi-professional for the St. Louis Surge. Once I got comfortable down there I began playing flag football and then tried out for the St. Louis Slam Women’s Contact Football team. I couldn’t quite commit at the time because I didn’t have a car to get me to practices. But after a year, I then hung my basketball shoes and focused on work and football. That’s what brought me here today. I started applying for fitness centers up north in the Twin Cities and Wisconsin and finally took a position as the Franchise Manager at Anytime Fitness in Mendota Heights. After settling down for 8 months I finally decided it was time to begin my football career. Thanks for taking the time to get to know me and I can’t wait to start this new journey! Go Vixen!
