John and Kathryn Frandson Memorial Scholarship

VIXEN of the YEAR AWARD

The John and Kathryn Frandson Vixen of the Year Memorial Scholarship recognizes a Vixen player for their excellence both on and off the field.  This award goes to those players who have impacted their community through their volunteer work as well as being a great teammate and Vixen.

You can nominate Vixen players who you believe are deserving of the award, and the top two finalist will write a final essay highlighting their accomplishments on the field, and their volunteer/charity work with the wider community.

One finalist will be selected as a recipient of the award, and given a $500 scholarship toward their player fees, and a $250 donation will be made in their name to a charity of their choice.

Nominations for the 2022 season are now open! Click here to nominate a player.

First presented for the 2018 season, the award is named to honor the lives of the late John and Kathryn Frandson, (parents of former Vixen Mary Frandson), who both passed away during the 2017 season.

Guidelines and Stipulations

All nominees must currently be on the Vixen roster and under a signed contract with the Minnesota Vixen for which the season the scholarship money is to be applied in order to be eligible.

The $500 scholarship must be applied towards the recipient’s Minnesota Vixen training fees for the following season. Fees will be applied to recipient's account within 2 weeks of selection. If the selected player does not participate as a player for the Minnesota Vixen in which the funds are to be applied, an alternative nominee will be selected to receive the funds.

All nominees should indicate their charity of choice when submitting their essay. Charities must have a 501(C) (3) designation. The recipient is responsible for providing the Minnesota Vixen with the name of the charity of their choice, contact information and the donation process for said charity.

If any issues arise that are not specifically addressed in the guidelines and stipulations, the scholarship sponsor and owner of MN Vixen will determine any action, if needed, to be taken.
